Something's Gotta Sell! Get that look for a cool $10Mill

An anonymous tipster (oh, how I've always wanted to say that!) commented on one of my Something's Gotta Give posts that everyone's favorite movie house in the Hamptons is currently for sale.

House used for exterior shots in "Something's Gotta Give"

While certainly very close, and possibly they shared a builder or architect, they are not actually the same, which I confirmed with Pat Petrillo, the listing broker at Sotheby's Real Estate in The Hampton's. You can see the listing here.

Per the listing, this house is described as: Spacious and attractive this 7000 sq ft residence is a perfect summer retreat. Oversized Living Room with fireplace and adjacent sunroom, formal Dining Room, Large gourmet eat in kitchen, game/TV room plus 6 en-suite bedrooms including a master with a fireplace and study. A covered porch spans the back of the house and overlooks the heated pool, pool house and tennis court.

As we all know, the movie set interiors were built on a sound stage and did not really match the exterior architecture. So, it's interesting to see the interior of a similar home.

It's also interesting to see some style similarities - such as the dark floors, pale floors, some millwork.

Here is the entryway, looking up the stairs and down the hall towards a living room. The front hall portion of this space seems to be painted white. The interior area, around the center hall table, has a yellow/white striped wallpaper (or is perhaps painted stripes). It looks like the runner on the stairs is a natural sisal. Down the hall towards the living room, we can see a set of French doors on the right and I imagine there is a matching set to to the left to a small room (or possibly closet or bathroom) under the stairs.

The beamed living room is filled with beautiful mullioned French doors, yellow/gold walls and yellow and pink striped silk drapery. I would have loved to see the hardware in a black wrought iron - these look to be brass (never a good thing near the ocean!).

There gleaming dark stained floors (love them!) and a broadloom carpet cut to size to set off the seating area. I think the Merimekko print really pops against the yellow room and serves to attract the eye down the hall from the front hall. The fireplace at the end of the room is flanked by two more sets of French doors which lead out to the half-round sunroom. The gold/red/pink theme is fleshed out a little more in this pretty room.

Fans of the SGTG house will be a little jarred by the bright red walls in the tv room and dining room. They do seem a bit heavy as compared to the rest of the images, almost as if they are in a different house, especially as the flooring is also different. What this tv room really needs is a pendant lamp with a significantly bigger presence. That little thing looks cheap. But, how fantastic would a large alabaster or parchment toned pendant be - even if it was still quite near the ceiling.

I think this dining room is particularly eh... The chandi looks great, but the artwork is all too small and insignificant for the drama of the chandi and wall color and the table and chairs seem too small.

And now we're at the kitchen. Granite - check. Stainless - check check. It could be the angle, but it all seems mish-mash and too small for the overall scale of the house (although that could certainly be the angle and I don't know what's going on on the left. Plus, it's sorely lacking in color up top. If they didn't want window treatments - a painted sky blue ceiling would be a nice touch.

Heading upstairs - we find the upper hall has library style book shelves and the hall heading into the bedroom area.

The listing mentions that the master suite is on the first floor. This second story bedroom (which seems like a master to me!) boasts a large sitting area with fireplace. I like the blue wainscotting a lot. The fireplace, mantle and artwork, not so much.

This bathroom has a tumbled tile floor, beadboard wainscotting and a deep chair rail - which I like a lot. I'm feeling the need for some more color and would have liked a blue wall above the chair rail.

The backyard has a pool, adorable pool house and tennis court.

Did I not say adorable? Couldn't you just move right into this little house? I love the shingle pattern in the peaks and the little eyebrow window which matches the ones on the house.

A nice little summer cottage, no? If you're in the market, click here.
