Travel Tuesday: Mermaid Isle

PICT0152.jpg

Kevin O'Farrell and Lori Kearney wrote to me last week about Mermaid Isle - a retreat in Ireland that they have created. It is an oceanfront location with two homes, a restored classic stone fisherman's cottage and a larger barnlike post&beam home right on the sea, located on 25+acres including half a 26-acre island just offshore. Kevin is an America ex-pat industrial designer and through their travels around Ireland they were inspired by the ancient post & beam architecture which lead to the design of Mermaid Isle where they incorporated " bits and pieces from old castles, convents, churches and manor houses."

Doesn't this place look so idyllic? It's currently for sale - visit their website here. The cottage is also available for rent - here.
